Welcome to the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement’s Web Site for Christian Unity
Its principle scope is to provide a place for research, meetings and encounters, formation in theological, social and spiritual ecumenism as well as promoting a sensitivity to the ecumenical movement.
The Centro Pro Unione conducts scientific research projects at the international and local levels; organizes educational initiatives at the pre- and por-graduate levels in English and Italian (including symposia, annual cycle of conferences, study days, Summer courses in ecumenism and courses by correspondence). Our course in Ecumenism is “Recognized and Endorsed” by the Graduate Theological Foundation (USA) [view web site] which can grant up to 6 graduate credits for qualified graduate students.
The Center was officially inaugurated as an Ecumenical Center in 1968, but has been engaged in ecumenical activity since the late ’50s. Was the scene of encounters with and between the “ecumenical observers” invited to the II Council.
The Library of the Centro is a specialized library in ecumenical studies. Since its foundation, the library maintains a close working relationship with other Roman libraries interested in interconfessional dialogue. The library compiles a bibliography and currently has more than 28,000 records, updated daily and searchable on the online catalog.
